Nina & Graham’s Bright & Colorful Austin Wedding at the Waller Creek Boathouse

Nina & Graham’s colorful Austin wedding was inspired by Austin City Limits music festival. The happy couple tied the knot at Waller Creek Boathouse, a lakeside venue in downtown Austin. They wanted to give their friends & family (some of whom were traveling from long distances) a truly Austin experience – that is to say, a warm, welcoming, party-your-butt-off celebration!

A Riot of Color at this Waller Creek Boathouse Wedding

This Waller Creek Boathouse wedding was planned to perfection by Altar Ego Weddings and beautifully captured by Keira Hand Photography. Color was a very important design element for Nina – the wildly colorful, eclectic florals by Disch Events made a bold statement and included a show-stopping ceremony arch, unlike anything I’d seen!

Colorful streamers, a tie-dyed cake from Cakes Rock (that matched our invitation design!), sparkly shoes, and other bright accents added to the fun. Nina & Graham enhanced the Austin feel with some fun transportation details – a vintage street trolley from Austin Trolley arrived to transport them from the ceremony to the Riley Building, where a music-filled reception awaited the guests.

Creating a Completely Custom Stationery Suite

Another local vendor recommended us to Nina, and she felt an instant connection with some of the bright and colorful invitations on our Instagram. She soon reached out to talk about designing custom invitations for her Waller Creek Boathouse wedding. From our first phone call, I knew this would be a special project! Once I had an idea of what she was looking for – a fun, music-inspired festival feel – I couldn’t wait to get started on design ideas!

Order Custom Invitations

I created two unique concepts for her to choose from, and we had multiple conversations about printing techniques and special embellishments that we added to her suite, including an envelope liner, a wax seal and belly band to bring it all together. The end result? A wildly colorful tie-dye background, paired with gold metallic letterpress typography, along with two coordinating color details cards in fun shapes and a custom wax seal with a sunset motif that was a subtle nod to the ceremony location.
